Board approves field trip, job descriptions, ESSA participation and superintendent contract amendment

- Job descriptions: The board approved multiple job descriptions — including school security officer, director of security and emergency management, data analyst, lead truancy specialist, disciplinary hearing officer and senior accounts payable specialist — as recommended by the superintendent.
- ESSA Title I Part C: The board approved participation in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Title I, Part C grant partnership with Albemarle County Public Schools for FY24–25 and FY25–26; presenters said the district had 2–3 eligible migrant students in the prior year and none at present.
- Superintendent contract amendment: The board accepted an amendment clarifying that the superintendent’s first eight-month evaluation (11/01/2024–06/30/2025) is to be conducted no later than Oct. 31; the motion carried by voice vote.
- Other approvals: The board also approved the PCPS governor’s handbook (no substantive changes reported), advisory committee appointments for two-year terms, and policies on second reading.
Most motions were approved by voice vote with "Aye" and the chair's affirmation that the motion carries; the transcript records no roll-call tallies or recorded opposed voices in these actions.
