Staff noted the draft had preliminary approval on Aug. 19 and would be formally approved at the next meeting.
Board members also discussed the timing of the superintendent midterm evaluation. Staff said the Virginia Department of Education's new process includes a midterm evaluation, and that the midterm is due in November; the board observed the final evaluation/contract decision would need to be addressed in January–February if renewal were to be considered.
No final decisions on goal text were recorded; staff invited board members to provide further feedback before the next meeting.
