Pavan Governor School students recognized; student performers describe supportive experience

Hope Petty introduced five local students who participated in the Pavan Governor School for the Arts, a tuition-free, merit-based two-week summer program for rising high-school students in classical guitar, theater, visual arts and voice. Petty invited student participants from Warren County and Skyline High School to the podium.

Jasmine Stone performed "Take Me to the World" for the board and later described the Pavan experience as kind and encouraging: "The people there were really kind and encouraging, and they helped me come out of my shell," she said. Juliana Harryman said the theater students were given several scripts and assembled them into a cohesive performance presented at the end of the two-week session; she said the program helped her grow as an actor.

Petty encouraged the community to find more information at pavansa.org and said community members may contact her or the program director, AJ Van Zant, for details about future applications. The recognition highlighted the district’s arts programming and student achievements.
