The Danville Public School Board took several procedural and action votes at the Aug. 7 meeting, approving the 2025–26 academic calendar and awarding an RFP for school nutrition supplies.
Academic calendar: Olivia McCraw, director of assessment and state reporting, presented the 2025–26 academic calendar. Notable changes include adding summer and winter graduation ceremonies, removing one half‑day exam day to improve attendance, and setting last‑day variations so Galileo and GW conclude May 21 and most other schools conclude May 22, with RISE scheduled for May 27. Doctor Williams moved to adopt the calendar; Miss Averett seconded. The board approved the calendar on a roll call vote.
School nutrition RFP: Miss Gillis presented RFP 2526‑532 (presentation said it was released 06/24/2025 and opened 07/10/2025) for multiple product lots used by the district’s nutrition program — including paper/manual chemical supplies, milk and dairy, ice cream, fresh produce, bread and beverages. Doctor Williams moved, and Mister Terry seconded, approval of the finance department’s recommended vendor awards by lot; the board voted to approve the RFP awards.
Other procedural items: the board approved the meeting agenda (with item 9.1 moved to the work session) and the minutes from July 17 and July 24 earlier in the meeting. The chair adjourned the meeting after RFP action.
