Jennifer Hoisington, festival manager for the city of O'Fallon, gave an update on this year’s Heritage and Freedom Fest during the council meeting.
Hoisington said parade applications are open through June 6 and that 34 parade entries had already signed up. The festival will feature entertainment alley on TR Hughes Boulevard (including glass blowing demonstrations) and a full-size NASCAR simulator. Organizers plan three large helium parade balloons (12 feet by 12 feet; red, white and blue stars) and invited sponsors to help serve as balloon handlers. Carnival advance sales start June 2; advance tickets are $25 and on-site tickets $35, with a $2 ticketing fee. Event hours: July 3 family night (4 p.m.–10 p.m.), July 4 parade kickoff at 9:30 a.m. and festival noon–10 p.m., July 5 country night 4 p.m.–11 p.m.; carnival closeout July 6 from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for July 4 and July 5.
Hoisington said the city is finalizing online ticketing links in advance of June 2. Following her presentation the council played an announcement video highlighting headliners Neon Trees and Gabby Barrett.
The council did not take formal action on the presentation; Hoisington invited residents and potential sponsors to contact the festival office for participation details.
