The O'Fallon Cultural Arts Commission voted to adopt an every-other-month meeting schedule, moving regular meetings to February, April, June, August, October and November.
Commissioner Fogarty moved to approve the new schedule and Guarardo seconded; the chair called for the ayes and the motion carried with no recorded opposition. Commission staff said updated bylaws reflecting the change will be prepared and brought to the commission at its next meeting and then forwarded to city council for final approval.
Members debated timing options during the discussion, with several commissioners urging November instead of December to avoid holiday conflicts and one noting volunteers who work the Celebration of Lights could be affected. The commission also discussed the practical effects on Fall Into The Arts planning, with staff noting the call for artists typically opens in March and that earlier scheduling could shift planning timelines.
The commission’s quorum at roll call included six voting members; two commissioners were recorded absent and three were excused. The commission agreed the new schedule could begin in February 2026 or be implemented sooner if calendar logistics and council approval allow.
Next steps: staff will circulate revised bylaws for the commission’s review and vote, then submit the amendment to the city council for its consideration.
