The Planning and Zoning Commission voted Sept. 4 to forward recommendations to the City Council supporting rezoning of 835 West Tara Lane from R‑1 (single‑family) to C‑2 (general business), a conditional use permit for automobile sales, and approval of the associated site plan to enable an expansion of an existing dealership.
Drake Johnston (Bax/Bags Engineering) described plans to combine two parcels — one zoned C‑2 and one zoned R‑1 — remove existing pavement and buildings, and construct a new dealership with associated repair bays and display parking. Commissioners asked for a lighting plan at the entrance and clarification on stormwater detention; Johnston said they would work with staff to provide photometrics and detention solutions and noted the proposed site would reduce impervious area compared with existing conditions.
The commission moved to recommend approval of rezoning and the CUP and to approve the site plan with the condition to add a light at the entrance and address stormwater and trash enclosure placement. All motions carried and the items will be forwarded to City Council.
