Vendor demo: Legislate shows AI search, code‑scan and drafting tools to Greene County board

A software firm, Legislate, demonstrated an artificial‑intelligence tool the company says can index a locality’s ordinances, agendas and minutes to answer plain‑English questions, draft resolutions, run code‑compliance scans and automate public‑records redaction.

Roger Lynn of Legislate showed a search example for another jurisdiction and described how the platform finds references in meeting minutes that do not exist in municipal code text. He demonstrated a query about an enforcement pause on a chicken ordinance, showed the meeting minutes where the pause appeared, and generated a draft resolution and a draft resident letter in seconds.

Mr. Lynn said the system can process scanned documents, handwriting and PDFs, provide internal staff productivity gains, support a public search bar, and produce state‑code compliance reports for roughly $3,000 per report. He indicated an annual subscription for Greene County would likely range from $10,000 to $15,000 and said the company offers one‑year contracts with options to renew.

Supervisors asked about integration with the county’s current agenda platform and whether the service could be public facing. Mr. Lynn said Legislate would ingest Civic Clerk (the county’s agenda system) documents and can operate as an external public search tool if the board approves that configuration.

The county’s chief and staff agreed to follow up with the vendor on integration details and the initial quote included in the meeting packet.
