With a quorum established, the House Public Safety Committee approved minutes from its April 29, 2025 meeting and then took roll-call votes on pending business.
Vice Chair Kevin Miller moved that House Bill 44 be favorably reported and recommended for passage. The clerk called the roll; members recorded affirmative votes and the chair announced, “With 10 affirmative votes and 0 negative votes, the bill passes.” The committee clerk invited members to sign the report and indicate whether they wished to be cosponsors.
Later the committee considered House Bill 210 for a technical amendment. Representative Plummer moved to amend HB210 with amendment 136-0479 to make a minor wording change related to catalytic-converter thefts (replacing the word “purpose” with “purchase” in two lines). The chair said there was no objection and announced the amendment was agreed to and accepted.
What’s next: House Bill 44 will be forwarded as favorably reported; the amended language for HB210 will be incorporated and the bill will continue through the committee process.
