Augusta County funds recreation and facility projects including pickleball courts and a ballfield reroof

The Augusta County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 10 approved two local recreation and facility funding requests.
The Augusta County Parks and Recreation Commission recommended a $36,464 grant from the Middle River Parks and Rec Infrastructure account to the Wiers Cave Recreation Association to install two pickleball courts at Wiers Cave Park. Mrs. Wetzel reported the commission's recommendation; a motion to allocate $36,464 from Middle River infrastructure funds was seconded and the board approved the allocation with a recorded 5–0 vote.
Separately, staff presented a Baber Enterprises quote to reroof two dugouts and a concession stand at the Churchfield Diamond Club for $11,400. Baber Enterprises will donate $6,100 toward the work, leaving a requested county contribution of $5,300 from Ms. Carter's infrastructure account. Ms. Carter said three bids were received and that Baber was selected because of cost and the in-kind donation; a motion to approve the $5,300 contribution was made, seconded and approved.
Both actions were presented as local infrastructure investments to maintain recreational amenities used by residents.
