Colleagues and board members recounted Epting’s varied roles in the district — teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal — and emphasized his mentorship and steady leadership. “You’re not only a colleague, a mentor, a dear friend, and you made a difference in this school district for the last three decades,” one speaker said during the tribute.
Board members and family members attended the presentation; the superintendent and others offered personal remarks and photos after the ceremony. The board then moved on to the regular agenda.
