Board adopts five policy updates including background screening and grant management

During the Sept. 9 meeting the Citrus County School Board approved five policy updates previously discussed at workshops and committee meetings.
Policy 3.4 (Safe and Secure Schools) was updated to reflect use of safety systems and developmentally appropriate instructions; Policy 3.72 was amended to reflect background‑screening requirements for contractors, citing Florida statute 435.12; Policy 5.2 (Student Assignment) was revised for consistency with the district’s controlled open‑enrollment plan; Policy 6.17 (Appointment/Employment Requirements) incorporated NEFEC recommendations and HR title consistency; and Policy 7.25 (Grant Management) added sections to address federal monitoring of federal funds.
Each policy was presented, taken through the three public‑comment calls required by the public hearing format, moved and adopted by voice votes. Board members noted that revisions were discussed at the June workshop and that the changes are largely final steps to place policy language in the board manual.
The transcript records each motion and voice vote; the policies will be incorporated into the district policy manual.
