District acknowledges community donations to WTC and food services award; new WTC director introduced

The Citrus County School Board on Aug. 12 heard a roster of community donations to WTC and welcomed Colleen Strickland as the district’s new WTC director.
Assistant Superintendent Janet Frederica read a list of donors and grant gifts for WTC, stating a total of $41,297 in donations on the agenda. Donors included local civic clubs, the Rotary Club of Downtown Inverness Charitable Foundation, the Florida Sheriffs Explorer Association, the Joseph F. Bennett Senior Trust and others listed during the consent‑agenda presentation.
Dr. Scott Hebert introduced Colleen Strickland, who said she had just started her fifth week as WTC director and that the college welcomed nearly 400 students at the start of term. "We have students who are entering into their pathways so that they can directly impact the workforce of Citrus County," Strickland said.
The board also recognized the district’s food and nutrition team and Mr. Pistone for a "restaurant innovations" award that represented Citrus County at a national competition; Pistone credited staff and community support for the recognition.
The consent agenda, which included the donation approvals, was approved earlier in the meeting.
