Citrus schools suspend Beanstack use after DOE letter, explore Destiny alternative

Miss Androski (staff) and other presenters said they were able to download the vetted database from Beanstack so the district retains its record of vetted titles.
Legal counsel said the district renewed the Beanstack contract in June and paid upfront; canceling may require a 30-day notice and counsel will review whether any refund or other remedies are available. The district reported it is evaluating using Destiny, its existing library management system, to provide the same public-access functionality rather than purchasing a new product.
Board members emphasized the need to comply with statute and thanked staff for acting quickly to suspend usage pending review. The board requested a legal update at a future meeting on options, contract obligations and potential recoveries.
No formal motion to cancel the contract was recorded on the transcript; legal staff and counsel said they are exploring options and will update the board.
