Board schedules candidate forum, approves Hispanic/Latinx proclamation and consent agenda

Jonathan Landon, the district’s designated election official, updated the board on the 2025 board election: District A candidates are Jody Barr and Tammy Nimmo; District E candidates are Elizabeth Taylor and incumbent Catherine Kuehlenberg. Ballot order was determined by lot Sept. 2 and Landon said final ballot proofs are being approved with the three counties. A candidate forum is scheduled for Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the district office; the election is Nov. 4.
Earlier in the meeting the board agreed to move item No. 10, a proclamation celebrating Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month, ahead of the consent agenda. A director moved and the motion to approve the proclamation was seconded and approved; Director Tyler read the proclamation in Spanish at the chair’s request. Several directors said the proclamation is symbolic but meaningful and noted the district’s more than 50% Latinx student population.
The board then approved the consent agenda—which included routine personnel items, previous meeting minutes and several policies and regulations—by unanimous 'Aye' vote as called by the chair. Board members asked for no items to be pulled from consent at that time.
No contested votes on individual policies were recorded in the meeting transcript; board members discussed policy committee work, BBA updates, and charter renewal planning elsewhere on the agenda.
