At a board meeting, a district presenter described three focal areas: implementing the district strategic plan with fidelity, prioritizing instructional effectiveness and continuing to navigate financial challenges.
“We rebuilt financial systems. The board adopted a balanced budget on time,” the presenter said, characterizing last year’s work as the foundation for the coming year. The presenter emphasized a data‑driven approach tied to attendance and learning benchmarks, noting that the district will use metrics such as October count to solidify enrollment and funding figures.
The district also credited summer capital and maintenance work with savings and facility improvements: custodial staff refinished high‑school gym floors and produced more than $150,000 in savings, and grounds work reduced water usage to roughly 75% of historical levels, staff said.
Board members asked about family stability and supports at schools. The presenter described family liaisons and the Family Resource Center’s role in coordinating county and nonprofit partners for family meetings and wraparound services, adding that the district is "still concerned" about how families are faring and will continue to monitor and reconnect with families.
The meeting also included a personnel note and a recognition: district office manager Rodrigo Andrade was credited for leading a successful grant‑writing effort that produced a $40,000 award from the Buhl Foundation to support early childhood services. The board welcomed new teachers and acknowledged staff who worked summer programs.
The presenter said the board will receive a sequence of fall agenda items tied to the strategic plan, attendance work and the CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education) program review. The district recommended presenting program review materials to the board before any resolution on CLDE is considered.
