Vernon Hills Board Renames Village Hall for Longtime Leader Roger L. Byrne

State Representative Dan Diedich said the Illinois House passed a resolution on 05/15/2025 commending Byrne and noted the House had adopted it unanimously. Local leaders — including the Vernon Hills Park District president, the Cook Memorial Public Library director and the Hawthorne School District superintendent — described Byrne’s partnerships that helped secure the Aspen Drive Library, the high school, athletic fields and other facilities.
Family members and Byrne himself addressed the meeting. Byrne thanked colleagues and cited long-term projects and partnerships that shaped the village’s growth from farmland to a regional center. The village presented Byrne’s family with a copy of the resolution and a copy of the newly installed sign.
