During regular business following the budget hearing, the Douglas Unified District governing board approved a set of consent and action items covering payroll/expense vouchers, personnel and donations.
The board approved the consent agenda (payroll and expense vouchers A–C) by roll call. The board then approved certified hires presented by the superintendent, including substitute and an emergency hire. A separate action approved increasing an ESS instructional aide's hours from 6 to 6.5 to meet service needs.
Superintendent Samaniego recommended approval of a classified resignation: the security department secretary, Nadine, resigned effective Nov. 21 due to relocation; the board approved the resignation. The board also approved a student observer placement from Hastings College for required education hours and approved three sports hires for Paul Huber Middle School.
Volunteers for Douglas High School boys basketball and girls soccer were reviewed and approved after background checks; the board accepted a donation of 20 tote bags and 20 journals from Lakeshore with an estimated value of $259.98.
Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call; individual votes were recorded as "yes" by the members present on each item. The superintendent provided brief background for each item at the board's request. No public comment was recorded for these items.
