The House Health Committee considered House Bill 207 in its second hearing and accepted an amendment that broadens the promotional language for 'Male Wellness Month.' Representative Dieter moved an amendment to add the word 'suburban' to language promoting male wellness exams across rural, urban and suburban males; the motion was agreed to with no objections.
Proponent testimony included Beth Tranalone, a past president and legislative committee member of the Ohio Dental Hygienist Association, who said adding dentists to the date designation underscores the connection between oral health and overall wellness and can encourage preventive behaviors. Dr. Warren Downar, a family and internal medicine physician with 50 years' experience, urged the committee to use awareness campaigns to reduce preventable cardiovascular disease and other conditions, and advocated for nutrition education.
Representative Dieter offered the amendment and the committee accepted it by unanimous voice vote. The committee concluded the second hearing and received written testimony on the iPads.
