The Ohio House Health Committee accepted Amendment 0683 to House Bill 12 during its meeting. Representative Gross moved to amend the bill to expand an exemption to its dispensing requirement when a pharmacist has documented that a patient has a history of a life‑threatening allergic reaction to a drug in the same class as the prescribed drug. The chair said the amendment had been provided to the committee and was available on members’ iPads.
The amendment was offered in response to concerns raised by David Burke, executive director of the Ohio Pharmacists Association. No members objected; the chair declared, “Hearing none, the motion is agreed to and the amendment is accepted,” and concluded the sixth hearing on House Bill 12.
