The Virginia Beach Development Authority approved an amendment on Aug. 12 to increase weekend security at Town Center garages.
Emily (staff) said the recommended amendment would add an additional vehicle and supporting patrols on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at a proposed cost of $50,000. The cost would be funded from the Special Service District, not BBDA operating funds, and TCAB and city staff supported the change. The board voted to approve the amendment after a motion from Mister Kefflinger and a second from Miss Morgan.
Emily said the authority had renewed a five-year contract with Securitas in June and this amendment would provide extra weekend coverage in addition to ongoing patrols and license-plate-based enforcement systems already in place for some oceanfront garages.
