City IT receives $1 million CIP appropriation to replace aging network devices

Committee members asked whether the project was part of a larger $3 million ask; staff clarified the $1,000,000 item is separate. A second item transferring $200,000 as a cover line for fiber-break repair was described by Destin, deputy CIO, who said the cover line provides funds to repair unanticipated fiber breaks across the city.
Councilwoman Logan emphasized the importance of wire-management and asked departments to standardize cable/installation practices on all projects. Staff acknowledged the request and committed to consider wire management standards as part of procurement and project specifications.
Both items passed on voice votes with favorable committee recommendations.
