Middle‑school punch‑list moving toward year‑end closeout, district says

Jeff (at the microphone for the middle school update) told the board on Sept. 18 that the middle‑school project is largely complete and is now in punch‑list and closeout phases. He said the east parking lot is open, work on the tennis‑court parking lot continues, and the county utility relocation work is delaying road widening and a traffic signal. A health‑department reinspection was completed successfully.
Jeff outlined the administrative closeout steps: contractors must finish punch‑list items, subcontracts must be closed out, O&M manuals obtained, retainage released after final acceptance and final payments processed through the OFCC closeout system (Oak CI). He noted the district had to move retainage into a special account when the project hit 50% completion so some funds are held until final closeout.
Site work remains, including hydroseeding and manual watering to establish grass on the west side of the building; lack of permanent irrigation will require follow‑up next spring. The administration’s target is to complete closeout paperwork and financial settlements by the end of the calendar year.
Board members asked about typical closeout steps and expressed support for sustaining the closing effort through the paperwork and final inspections.
