South Huntington board approves routine contracts, personnel actions; personnel vote 6–0–1

The South Huntington Union Free School District board on Sept. 3 approved a slate of routine business items, including contracts, personnel actions and interdistrict service agreements during a brief back-to-school meeting.
Board members voted to award the electrical portion of a boiler-replacement project at Walt Whitman High School to JP Daley and Sons, the only bidder for that portion, at a price described in the meeting as approximately $376,000 after review by the district architect. The item was presented as part of consent/resolution items and passed after no public questions were raised.
The board also approved a data-privacy agreement with ThingLink intended to meet Education Law 2-d requirements for student data protections, and approved a health-services contract with the Seaford Union Free School District to provide services for one student attending Saint William the Abbot School who resides in South Huntington.
Personnel schedules listed as items 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 22 were approved. The board recorded one abstention by Miss Meyer on the personnel motion; the clerk announced a tally of 6 yes, 0 no, 1 abstention and the motion carried.
Other routine actions approved included recommendations from the special education and preschool special education committees covering placements from March through August, authorization for board members and cabinet to attend the National Suffolk resolutions dinner (an amendment added Mister Joyner to the attendee list), and approval for the district clerk to attend a district-clerk workshop at the Huntington Hilton on Sept. 18.
No contested votes or substantive public objections were recorded on the motions taken. The board adjourned after a short public-comment period.
