County certifies amendments to 2015 zoning resolution for campgrounds and wireless standards

Sweetwater County commissioners certified a package of amendments to the county’s 2015 zoning resolution on Aug. 19 that add campground regulations and update standards for wireless communication facilities.
Land Use Director Eric Bingham told the board the changes add supplemental-use campground regulations with different criteria depending on whether a site is inside the growth-management area, and include new standards for wireless facilities keyed to tower height and appearance (the record references ‘stealth’ options such as tree- or cactus-style towers). Bingham said the county completed the 45-day Administrative Procedures Act notice period and received no public comment on the certification.
Commissioner Jones moved, and Commissioner Richards seconded, to approve and certify resolution 25-08-CC-05. The board voted unanimously to adopt and certify the amendments.
County staff said the certification implements definitions and standards needed to evaluate future campground proposals and wireless communications projects under the updated zoning code.
