County librarian highlights programs, volunteers and online services in annual report

Sabrina Dumas, Greenlee County librarian, presented the 2024–25 library system report to the Board of Supervisors on Aug. 19, emphasizing outreach, volunteer engagement and online services.
Dumas said the libraries served about 13,000 users and recorded roughly 10,700 items checked out. Volunteers logged 332 hours across 177 volunteers. The Clifton Library serves as an approved GED testing site and staff partners with the school superintendent’s office for testing support. Online resources, available at greenleylibraries.org, include ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, music, practice driver’s tests and learning databases.
Dumas reviewed dozens of community programs — summer reading, story times (including moved story time at the train depot during Clifton construction), chess camp, seed-saving workshops, and youth cooking classes — and described themed loanable "backpacks" for STEM, birding and stargazing, as well as basic-skill backpacks aimed at kindergarten readiness.
She also described partnerships and outreach such as Project Linus blanket drives, book clubs, and author events. Board members thanked Dumas for the report and noted the county’s recent HVAC support for the Clifton Library.
