Selectboard accepts donated parcel from Dollar General for river-walk and dam access

The Selectboard authorized the town manager on Sept. 23 to sign a real-estate donation agreement in which Dollar General would give the municipality a parcel on the southern side of its Northfield store. Manager reported that the donation will create access for contractors working on a dam-replacement project and help make a future river-walk possible.
Manager said the town already has a survey and deed in draft and that the donation requires no purchase payment. Board members asked staff to ensure the municipal mailing address and deed details are complete before final signing. One member noted donated land would be tax-exempt; staff will finalize the conveyance and recordation details.
The motion to authorize the manager to sign the donation agreement passed by voice vote.
