Council approves consent items, public-safety grants and Boom Island's temporary liquor license

At its Sept. 29 meeting, the Minnetonka City Council approved several routine and public-safety items.
Consent agenda: The council approved amendment of an interim-use permit for a portable classroom at Glenlake Elementary (Item 10A), transferred Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program income to Hennepin County (Item 10B after being pulled for discussion), adopted the 2026 City Council calendar (10C) and appointed election judges for the Nov. 4, 2025 municipal general election (10D). Councilmember Coakley had asked staff to consider a future study session about improving access to CDBG for lower-income residents, particularly those in land-trust housing.
Grants: Council approved two consent items requiring five votes: a DWI traffic safety officer grant that funds a full-time patrol officer position, and a Toward Zero Deaths traffic-enforcement grant; both motions passed by roll call.
Temporary liquor license: Following a short public hearing, the council granted a temporary on-sale liquor license to Boom Island Brewing for a Fall Fest on Oct. 25; Laura McCully, co-owner and events manager, described a daytime family event and a ticketed evening sampling segment.
All motions were adopted by roll-call vote.
