The Springfield School Committee approved a proposal Sept. 4 to consider and name a street in honor of the late Dan Kavanaugh, a longtime leader at Duggan Academy.
Committee members said the idea had been considered at subcommittee and that feasibility work was completed. Family members and school leaders addressed the committee and described Kavanaugh’s dedication to students and the school. Superintendent Denal said the suggestion had been reviewed by subcommittee and staff would provide additional information on signage and ceremony logistics.
A motion to approve the consideration and naming was moved by Miss Hurst, seconded and adopted in a roll-call vote of the members present.
