Commissioner Bob (Speaker 5) briefed the Economic Development Commission on the Main Street review and said he had posted comments on the comprehensive plan's chapters. He urged commissioners to review the document and suggested putting the draft on the county site for citizen comment after the Planning Commission’s Aug. 28 hearing.
Chair (Speaker 1) agreed the EDC should solicit public feedback and proposed a timeline: discuss comments in September and consider a vote on the Main Street program in October or November, with final action before the end of the calendar year if community input supports it. Commissioner 5 suggested, and Chair concurred, that the Planning Commission should see the materials first so staff can identify any issues before broader release.
Commissioners also discussed tying the Main Street work to other projects in the strategic plan. Commissioner Bob offered to post the EDC’s accomplishments and the public draft on a shared drive and the county website so residents can review and respond. No formal vote on adoption occurred; the meeting produced direction to circulate draft materials and gather public comments.
