The Wakefield School Committee approved the minutes of its Sept. 9, 2025 meeting by roll call after a motion and second; one member noted they would abstain because they had not attended the earlier meeting. The chair announced the motion carried.
Subcommittee reports followed. Mr. Markham, reporting for finance and facilities, said the group discussed the fiscal 2025 close, the loss of particular grant funds and the potential impacts of that loss, and preliminary calendar planning for fiscal 2027 and 2028 budget work. The labor and personnel subcommittee has not yet met but expects to begin bargaining talks related to scheduling for the new building. Student Services is scheduling discussions with the health department and other stakeholders to consider a youth risk behavior survey.
In personnel news, Christine announced that Jeff Weiner is transitioning to a role outside the district with his last day tomorrow; Donna Cushman will fill the interim director of technology role for the remainder of the year while the district reviews department organization and staffing.
The committee set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. and noted an upcoming MCAS presentation and an expected Youth Risk Behavior Survey discussion. A motion to adjourn passed by roll call; the chair said the vote was unanimous and the meeting adjourned.
No formal policy votes or budget authorizations occurred at the meeting.
