Sheriff’s office wins approval for body cameras and seven patrol vehicles

Separately the board authorized the purchase of 14 body cameras to use inside the county jail and to update aging vehicle cameras as part of the sheriff’s transparency efforts. The sheriff said the in-jail cameras represent a new capability for Camden County and will enhance internal accountability.
Commissioners also approved the purchase of seven 2026 Ford Interceptor vehicles (budgeted through SPLOST 9 in the FY26 process). The sheriff said the additional vehicles will help reach full fleet capacity and support a planned countywide traffic team to address speeding and impaired-driving enforcement.
