Summit Public Schools honors teachers for tenure and 25 years of service

The Summit Board of Education recognized long-serving staff and newly tenured teachers at its Sept. 11 meeting.
Superintendent Scott Huff opened the celebration, calling out seven employees who reached 25 years of service over the past year and inviting principals and honorees to the podium. Principal Evan Kozak and colleagues paid tribute to honorees' classroom impact, noting classroom leadership, mentoring of new teachers and long-term commitments to students. "You quickly make students feel special, unique and then we all know what happens, students learn," Kozak said when introducing Christopher Robbins.
The board read a list of newly tenured staff across elementary, middle and high schools, including names called aloud by administration. The district noted that three additional staff who could not attend would be publicly honored at the October board meeting. Board members and administrators paused for a short recess to take group photographs.
Board members and audience members offered applause for the honorees; no formal board action beyond recognition was required for the observances.
