Triton building-committee outlines MSBA timeline; OPM selection package due to MSBA by Dec. 10

Matt Landers, chair of the building committee, updated the Triton Regional School Committee on the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) feasibility process and the schedule for selecting an owner’s project manager (OPM). He said the district launched feasibility on Aug. 27 and submitted its feasibility agreement to the MSBA on Sept. 4.
Landers summarized the near-term timeline: the draft request for OPM services went to MSBA review ahead of schedule, an advertisement will be placed in the central register by Nov. 5, OPM applications will be due Nov. 19, and the district expects to deliver a complete OPM selection package to the MSBA by Dec. 10. "The MSBA will confirm our selection on 01/05/2026," he said.
Superintendent members emphasized communication and community outreach as the project advances. Committee members asked when families could expect to use a new building; the superintendent said a new building is likely to be occupied around 2031 and that a public vote on the project is expected in calendar year 2028, either spring or fall.
Landers and others reiterated that the district is working to make information widely available during the multi-year process, including a project video hosted on the project website and shorter social clips to explain the opportunity, timeline and other project pillars.
The committee took no final action on the building project at the meeting; Landers said the OPM selection will move forward through an advertised procurement, subcommittee interviews and a package submitted to the MSBA for review.
