Manager reports schedules for road resurfacing, Cannon Ridge traffic pattern and Marina barge removal

City Manager Ken briefed council on upcoming operations: quarterly resurfacing starting Sept. 9, Lakeshore Boulevard surface course to be installed in about two weeks with project completion by Sept. 30, Hoos and Cannon Ridge OPWC projects to start Sept. 8 with traffic adjustments, and targeted removal of a sunken barge from the Marina channel the week of Sept. 15.
City Manager Ken provided routine updates on public-works scheduling and community items at the Sept. 2 meeting.
He said quarterly road resurfacing is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9. The Lakeshore Boulevard resurfacing project had completed milling, base repairs and intermediate asphalt and the surface course was expected in about two weeks with completion by Sept. 30. Hoos Road resurfacing and Cannon Ridge concrete repairs (both OPWC projects) were slightly delayed but scheduled to begin Sept. 8 and be substantially complete by Sept. 22; Cannon Ridge will maintain a one‑way northbound traffic pattern during the project. Ken also reported that removal of a sunken barge in the Marina channel is targeted in the week of Sept. 15, which staff said should improve navigation for boaters. He reminded residents that Mentor’s Farmers Market at Garfield Park runs 2–6 p.m. on the remaining Fridays through the season.
Ken described the city’s yard-waste program during the same segment, explaining operational reasons the city does not run a curbside vacuum leaf pickup program and noting the city pays 100% of collection costs while allowing increased bag placement later in the season.
