The Mentor City Planning Commission on Sept. 25 tabled consideration of an accessory storage building proposed for 8160 Norton Parkway so the applicant could work with city administration on revised elevations and materials.
Applicant David Kornbleu said the building is intended to provide conditioned storage for existing tenants and noted landscaping and placement behind the main building. City staff and several commissioners raised concern that the proposed metal siding would not match the higher‑quality masonry and materials of adjacent buildings. Commissioner comments suggested adding a masonry base or other material changes to better tie the storage building to neighboring architecture. Architect Todd Slobodin explained the design intent to keep the structure inconspicuous behind existing plantings but agreed to work on material options.
A motion to table the item carried; the applicant may return the item to the commission after working with staff or the administration may address outstanding comments and either finalize approval or bring the item back to the commission.
