Board attorney Mr. Schwartz briefed members that the amendment was prepared after the board's evaluation of the superintendent and explained that the amendment would set a deadline for finalized annual performance goals "no later than November 15 each year," allowing the board to consider finalized student test data and school improvement plans that become available in October. "The maximum is 4 years from the date the board acts," Mr. Schwartz said when asked about permissible contract length.
Ms. Davis moved to approve the amendment; Dr. Dahl seconded. After a brief request for discussion, the board approved the amendment by voice vote, recorded in the meeting as 6–1 in favor.
The amendment revises paragraph 6 (evaluation) to match board policy timing and formally sets the evaluation timeline to accommodate finalized assessment data. The board did not attach additional conditions to the amendment during the meeting.
