Jersey Village will pursue a $90,000 American Express grant with a $10,000 local match to install six solar pole-mounted PTZ cameras and one trailer-mounted camera to address illegal-dumping hotspots. The cameras would integrate with the city’s existing Flock system and provide near-live monitoring for police dispatch and patrol vehicles.
Chief Keel and other staff noted recent successful CID investigations and said the cameras would be useful for both preventing future dumping and supporting investigations. Staff estimated an implementation timeline following anticipated awards in early 2026; council approved the grant resolution and committed the local match.
Council members asked about monitoring and alerts; staff said the system can generate motion alerts and that feeds would be viewable in a dispatch ‘real-time crime center’ and in patrol vehicles. The funding is contingent on award notification; council approved the measure unanimously.
