City staff reports balanced finances through August; council notes birthday and retirement

City staff presented the city’s financial status through Aug. 31 and told the Lufkin City Council the operating funds are on track to end the fiscal year with revenues and expenditures balanced.
"You can see that we are, on schedule to end the year, very soundly, with, revenues and expenditures balanced well," Speaker 3 said while reviewing 11 months of operating-fund data included in the meeting packet.
Council members had no additional questions on the financial report. In other business, Speaker 1 acknowledged Janice Tidwell’s birthday and recognized Scott Rayburn, of the Planning and Zoning Department, who retired after 28 years with the city. The presiding speaker wished Rayburn well and thanked him for his service.
The meeting adjourned at 05:10.
