The Navasota City Council approved an annual interlocal agreement with Grimes County on Sept. 22 that continues fire and emergency services to two portions of unincorporated Grimes County for fiscal year 2026. Fire Chief Jason Katkoski told the council the agreement is the same as last year and that the county agreed to provide $115,000 to the city for the service.
Chief Katkoski said the Grimes County commissioners approved the agreement at a recent commissioners court meeting. Council moved to approve the interlocal agreement and the motion carried without recorded opposition.
The agreement is a routine renewal of an annual service arrangement. Staff will complete the necessary execution of the interlocal contract and continue coordination with Grimes County for service delivery and billing.
