Waunakee board votes to enter closed session to discuss cooperative plan with neighboring municipalities

The Waunakee Village Board on Aug. 4 voted to convene a closed session under Wisconsin Statute §19.85(1)(e) to discuss negotiations related to a cooperative plan involving the Town of Westport, the cities of Madison and Milton, and the villages of DeForest and Waunakee.
A trustee moved to go into closed session citing competitive or bargaining reasons as authorized by the statute; the board seconded the motion, conducted a roll-call vote and voted unanimously to enter closed session. The clerk and staff informed viewers that the public recording would end and that, if any action results from closed session, it would be reflected in the official minutes.
Board members and staff did not expect formal action to come from the closed session during this meeting; the board reconvened at the end of the public portion and ended the public Zoom recording before beginning the closed-session Zoom link.
