The Sand Springs Public Schools Board of Education on Sept. 1 approved a series of fiscal and contracting actions: the first revised budget for fiscal 2025–26, the estimate of needs required by the School Budget Act, authorization to open a six‑month certificate of deposit, and a guaranteed maximum price amendment for LD Kerns contractors.
Finance staff walked trustees through the first revision to the budget, noting modest increases in property tax revenue and interest earnings, updated state aid figures received in August, and expected federal revenue adjustments compared with the COVID funding cliff. Staff said the district had preserved healthy carryover balances and had refined revenue and expenditure estimates to tighten the projection. "We've been able to budget within half a percent of revenue for general fund," finance staff said, and they recommended approval of the first revision.
The board voted to approve the first revised budget by roll call. Trustees then approved the estimate of needs form required by state law and noted bond totals and millage figures in the submission.
On investments, the board approved opening a six‑month certificate of deposit at American Heritage Bank to lock in current short‑term interest opportunities; staff said the move preserves liquidity while capturing higher rates. The board also approved a GMP amendment for LD Kerns contractors to add finishing items (south parking lot resurfacing, retaining wall work and other finishing touches) while remaining under the contract allowance.
All actions were approved by roll call votes at the meeting; board members recorded ayes for each of the named items. The board had no further questions after the finance presentation and moved to other agenda items.
