"36 years ago... I was born in Cambodia. During my childhood, I remember bombs, mines, and gunfire," Levy said as she introduced maps to show the country’s location and history. She told the council that after arriving in the United States it took her two decades to stop recurring nightmares and that she hoped sharing the history would help others visualize Cambodia and understand her family’s past.
Levy said she and her daughter were at the meeting to raise awareness about Cambodia’s history and culture. The mayor thanked her for sharing her story; no council action followed from the comment.
