Applicant asks Snellville council to hold public hearing then table Wesley Foundation site plan

Representatives for the Wesley Foundation told the Snellville mayor and council on Aug. 25 that revised site plans and new conditions were submitted late and asked that the city still open the scheduled public hearing and then immediately table the matter to give the public time to review the updates.

Norwood Davis, who the applicant identified as present from Indiana, said the plan change (including converting proposed private streets to public access to accommodate Gwinnett Ride/Gwinnett transit stops) arose from requested modifications and that Bridgewater-area residents already involved with the planning commission may attend the hearing. Davis asked that the public hearing be held that night and then the council table the item to a date certain so the applicant can continue to work with staff.

Council members said tabling to a date certain would allow neighbors to review the new documents; staff noted the next regular meetings were Sept. 8 and Sept. 22 and suggested the applicant work with staff to pick the most appropriate date. The council also noted that if the public hearing were held on an old plan, public comments would not reflect the revised materials and might require re-running notice requirements. The mayor invited the applicant to speak during the public comment portion if the council decided to table the hearing.

No final vote or formal action on the site plan was taken at the work session; staff will coordinate a new hearing date and ensure the public has access to the revised materials before formal council action.
