Doug, representing city staff, said the proposal includes a new landscape ground sign to replace an old pylon, on-site directional signs, building management signage and tenant wall and window signage. He told the commission the package is intended to improve wayfinding and unify the center’s aesthetic while noting a small set of code exceptions and a proposed set of findings and conditions in the staff report.
Commission discussion addressed the appearance and size of an entrance arrow/wayfinding sign (calculated at just over 14 square feet) and window-graphic treatments; one commissioner described aspects of the plan as "tasteful" and more stringent in some respects than the existing code (for example, in treatment of window graphics). Doug and the applicant agreed to clarify exception language and ensure that final signage meets the standards and conditions specified by staff. The commission moved, seconded and approved the staff-recommended findings and conditions.
