The Southington Board of Education honored Kimberly Padroff as the district’s 2025 Teacher of the Year at Tuesday’s meeting.
Superintendent Medansky introduced Padroff and noted scenes this summer in which former students sought out their teacher, framing that as evidence of Padroff’s lasting classroom impact. State legislators — introduced as Representative Poulos and Representative Veach — joined the presentation and Rep. Poulos and other legislators presented a general assembly citation recognizing Padroff’s classroom dedication.
Padroff thanked her students and colleagues, saying, "my students inspire me every single day and, I absolutely adore all my colleagues" and expressed pride in teaching in Southington. Medansky also told the board that Padroff is a state semifinalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year and will participate in a cohort of professional development if she advances.
The board recessed briefly so members and attendees could congratulate Padroff and the student performers.
Next steps: Padroff will participate in the state semifinalist process and district leaders said they will support her participation in professional development associated with the program.
