The Kings Park Central School District Board of Education approved a slate of personnel, vendor and program actions at its Aug. 5 regular meeting, voting to hire teaching and noninstructional staff, accept donations and authorize contracts and program amendments ahead of the 2025'26 school year.
Board members unanimously approved personnel schedule No. 2, which included the appointment of Sarah Brzezinski as a career/home teacher for William T. Rogers Middle School and Kings Park High School. The board also approved additional coaching and club assignments, per'diem substitutes and two noninstructional appointments: April Spataro as an office assistant at William T. Rogers and Megan Fantuzi as a nurse (Fantuzi's start date was listed as November 2025 following maternity leave).
The board accepted a no'cost agreement with the Town of Smithtown for road maintenance, parking'lot repairs and snow removal on an as'needed, actual'cost basis for the 2025'26 school year (term listed 07/01/2025'05/31/2026), citing applicable New York Highway Law provisions. Trustees also approved the district'level professional learning plan for 2025'26 and a set of supplemental data'privacy agreements required under state law for vendors that will access teacher or student data. The recorded vendor list included CodeHS, Quill, Vista Higher Learning and others as listed in the meeting attachments.
The board accepted donations including $164.85 from Lauren Ayers (an Eagle Scout candidate) earmarked for the district's tennis program; donations to date for the 2025'26 year were reported as $1,164.85. Trustees authorized disposal of outdated library books and other equipment, added verified vendors to the district vendor list and granted the board president authority to sign the listed service'provider contracts for program services and tutoring supports for 2025'26.
The Committee on Special Education recommendations were accepted and the board approved 25 individualized education programs dated June 24 through July 29, 2025. The board also approved a second amendment to the county memorandum of agreement for the school bus stop alarm program, extending the contract through the 2025'26 school year; Dr. Egan said the amendment brings "a little over $25,000" that the district typically uses for bus'safety items.
Votes were taken by voice on the listed motions; recorded procedural votes in the meeting transcript were unanimous where voiced with "Aye." The board president opened and closed the public comment periods and adjourned the meeting at the end of the agenda.
The board is scheduled to meet next on Aug. 26, 2025.
