New student representative sworn in at Forest Grove board retreat

At the start of the Aug. 13 business meeting the board administered the oath of office to the new student representative, Maya. The chair read the oath aloud and the student repeated it on the record, pledging to "support the Constitution and the laws of the United States and the state of Oregon and will discharge the duties of student representative to the Forest Grove School District Board to the best of my ability." Maya told the board she will serve as ASB president this year and said she looks forward to representing student leadership and supporting student voice in district governance. The chair and members welcomed her and noted her prior outreach to the board as evidence of initiative and readiness for the role.
