Forest Grove School District board approves sale of 2425 Viking House for $670,000

The Forest Grove School District board of directors approved the sale of a district-owned property known as the 2425 Viking House during a brief special session on Aug. 26, 2025.

Eileen Klute, the district’s director of finance and operations, told the board the district received an offer on the Viking House from Cheryl Rafti for $670,000 and recommended the board approve the sale with a closing scheduled for early September. “Today, we have the offer on the Viking House from Cheryl Rafti for about 6 for $670,000, and our recommendation is to approve the sale of the 2425 Viking House, to close early September,” Klute said.

Board members moved immediately to act. Director Pete Truax moved to approve the sale; Chair Christy Kotke seconded. When the chair called for a voice vote, two members said “aye,” and the chair stated the motion carried, approving the transaction. The board did not record any opposing or abstaining votes in the public record during the session.

The decision was made in a short meeting that opened at 8:02 a.m., included roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance, and adjourned at 8:05 a.m. The district did not provide additional details about contingencies, the deed transfer timeline, or whether the proceeds will be allocated to a specific fund during the meeting.

Board members present for the vote included Chair Christy Kotke, Director Pete Truax and Director Kate Grandusky (the latter was present at roll call but did not voice a vote on the record during the session). The sale was described as closing in early September; the district did not specify an exact closing date in the meeting.

The board also used the special session to remind viewers of a Cornelius Elementary ribbon-cutting and grand opening later that day.
