The Natchitoches Parish School Board approved a series of routine and finance items during its Aug. 1 meeting, including memoranda of understanding with Career Compass and other partners, continuation of a piggyback procurement arrangement for food‑service dishwashers and a resolution ordering a special election in Consolidated District 11 to authorize general obligation bonds for capital improvements at Provencal Elementary School.
Board members approved the finance and MOU items by roll call or voice votes. A resolution ordering and calling a special election for Consolidated School District No. 11 was read into the record and passed by roll call vote; the resolution authorizes applying to the state bond commission and designates purposes for proposed bond proceeds.
The board also approved a capital improvement plan for District 11 and several administrative items, including an alternative program handbook for 2025–26 and a people‑progression plan for the same period. The board voted to move the September voting meeting date to Sept. 15 to meet state budget advertising and submission timelines and later approved amended October meeting dates.
One governance proposal—reducing the size of the school board—was tabled until the board can consult a demographer and answer members' questions. The meeting concluded with a roll‑call vote to enter an executive session to consider the disposition of a grievance.
